FWBO Newcastle

On Saturday 17th February Parami conducted the official opening ceremony for the new venue for FWBO’s public Buddhist centre in Newcastle upon Tyne - known locally as ‘the toon’.

In a talk exploring the dedication ceremony, Parami emphasised the precious nature of an urban Buddhist Centre and the importance of fostering a sense of community, with friendships founded on shared values and mutual empathy and kindness. Parami then led a ritual highlighting the interconnected nature of all beings and gratitude to all those people who had contributed to the development of the Newcastle Sangha over the years, as well as dedicating the Centre to the Three Jewels. Images of the four cardinal Jinas were received from the shrine to be placed in locations around the city of Newcastle, symbolising the ‘going out’ of the Dharma into the world.
