FWBO/TBMSG Bhusawal, Maharastra

Women's retreat in IndiaBhusawal is one of the less-well-known centres of the FWBO/TBMSG, being just one of many towns on the Pune-Nagpur rail line, and few people stop unless they have business there. Only one Order Member, Chandravir, lives in Bhusawal, and he has only recently arrived. However, for many years a team of inspired and dedicated mitras have made it one of the most dynamic and vibrant of our centres in India or indeed anywhere in the world – which is all the more remarkable in that they have no actual centre!

This was amply proved last month when Jayachitta, a German Order Member living in London, and long-time friend of Chandravir, visited. At their invitation she gave a number of talks, the largest of which had 6,000 people in attendance, and led a day retreat for 700 women. Jayachitta commented afterwards ”to see their dedication and the fruit of their months of preparation was truly inspiring. I felt honoured to be invited – it is the closest I have ever come to living inside a Mahayana sutra where all come together to celebrate and practice the Dharma”.
